Environmental protection is one of the priorities in the production and economic activities of Kazakhoil Aktobe LLP
Our goal is effective management of environmental impacts without causing harm to society and nature. In our hydrocarbon production cycle, we strive to meet operational and environmental safety standards and aim to continuously improve our environmental management system (EMS). We carry out our operations in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment Policy (the Policy) and approved Environmental Action Plans.
According to the Policy, the main principles of environmental management are continuous reduction of the negative impact of activities on the environment, identification and management of environmental risks, improvement of energy efficiency and awareness. The Policy applies to all employees of the Company, as well as employees of contractor organizations providing services at the facilities.
The Company has an integrated environmental management system, which is also based on the current environmental legislation, environmental management principles and process approach.
Quality, environmental, health and safety management systems are maintained in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
On an annual basis, we analyze our environmental performance and identify areas for improvement, goals and objectives for future activities. In order to maintain environmental wellbeing and reduce our environmental footprint, we continuously explore opportunities to apply and implement new practices and technologies.
Our priorities include: greenhouse gas emissions management, flaring reduction, historic waste management, biodiversity conservation, land reclamation and energy efficiency.
It is mandatory to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) when planning any activity. All EIA projects are subject to state environmental expertise.
Gas utilization
Kazakhoil Aktobe LLP, in order to ensure environmental safety, minimize the volume of hydrocarbon gas flaring, rational and integrated use of associated gas, including its processing, operates: Kozhasai GTU – gas treatment unit with a capacity of 240 million m3/year – gas drying with further transportation to the Alibekmola GTU. Alibekmola GTPU – Gas treatment and processing unit with a capacity of 420 million m3/year.
According to the Law on Subsoil and Subsoil Use of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in order to rationally use associated gas and reduce the harmful impact on the environment by reducing the volume of its flaring for the facilities of Kazakhoil Aktobe LLP, programs for the development of associated gas processing for the facilities are developed and agreed with the authorized bodies for the study and use of subsoil, with the protection of the Working Group to review the Programs and obtaining permission for flaring associated gas.
